The Brief

Some projects are just fun!! The client wanted us to create a plastic version of the Purple Monkey in their game Dreamfall from a 2D image, but with a twist! The monkey had to contain a USB memory stick.

Product

A usable memory stick contained within the body of the monkey but well hidden, made from durable PVC rubber that had some weight to it to add to the feeling of quality.

Execution

Firstly we had to convert the flat 2D imagery into a 3D render to enable the mold to be made. Then we decided that in order to hide the memory stick but make it functional the logical location was in its’ head. The end result was a really funky, quality little monkey figure that when you pulled its’ head off revealed the 8gb memory stick. With only the head attached this was then easily inserted into any USB port.
